steering lock

When I turn the steering onto full left hand lock the rear edge of the front nearside wheel fowls the brake cable. On right hand full lock there is clearance, so not a problem. Of course it only happens at parking speeds but is somewhat unnerving when it does. Is this a common problem & is there any way/adjustment to effect a cure?
