12/4 carb

Post by Dave J »

Having replaced both jets, the engine is still running too lean and requires choke for engine pull more cleanly. Otherwise, under load ,engine spits and coughs until throttle is closed.
Cant see any blockage as far as I can see.
Float level is at max i.e. just before it floods.
Any suggestions will be welcome.
Cheers,

Hello Dave
With new correct sized jets fitted and still misbehaving I would suspect an air leak.
A leak within the carb would be unlikely unless the butterfly spindle and bushes are badly worn.
Is the carb to manifold gasket OK?
Manifold to Autovac vacuum pipe?
Autovac air valves?

Has anyone the details of the member who advertised reconditioning of Zenith carbs in the newsletter?
