Not starting hot
Not starting hot
Hi, I have an Austin 12/4 heavy, long stroke. I'd like some advice on the problem that when we stop after a drive, it won't start again. I am refurbishing the starter. However, when hand-cranked it starts fine cold. But it won't restart hot. Could it be a vapour lock problem? If so, what do you suggest to remedy? Are there any other suggestions to look at for this problem, other than just letting it cool over an hour? Appreciate your assistance.

Running too rich?
Not sure what your ignition system is but if points could be a faulty condenser (sometimes get upset when hot).

Yes I agree running to rich. Make sure the choke is returning fully. Don't touch the choke after the first start of the day, they don't normally need anymore choke on the same day. If still not starting its flooded, you will then need to put your foot down on the accelerator to allow more of a air flow. Let us know how you get on with this.
