Before and After. It can be done!

Two photographs of my 1927 narrow track Clifton.
In a wood near Swindon. and then many years later, restored.
Poor old MR was used, without tyres around fields and woods, a bit like banger racing, until rescued.
The results of the restoration you can see. Its hard work but when you get there its very satisfying.

My 27 12/4 Special. Don't know much about this bodystyle, apparently very few survive. Before and after a near two decade long restoration of sorts. I know the car isn't correct in all aspects but this it what i could manage with very limited resources and parts available in India. The whitewall tyres are hideous in my opinion but tyres are a restricted item to import and these are the only 21in tyres that were available in the correct width at the time. My car was also featured on a stamp released by India Post.

Well done! Not many of us (if any) have our cars featured on a postage stamp. She looks lovely especially with the spot light and warning bell on the nearside running board.Have you found another one to restore?

Thanks. I already have several project cars, which will probably take up the rest of my life 🤣

Indeed not!

Lovely to see. I spent around a year living in India, predominantly in South Delhi, while working for JCB on the new 'Loadall' telehandler project out there around 5 year ago. During this time I spotted a VW Beetle on the side of the road as a rolling shell, made a note of the location, and came back later in over the weekend in my own time.

Found a lovely little garage just behind Connaught Place, with various cars under restoration including a lovely 1920 Derby Bentley with Vandern Plas (style?) tourer body in cream, which I was told in no uncertain terms was not for sale or export! Not that I could have afforded it.

But this lead to various emails and messages and a tour of a big out of town vehicle restoration outfit, the size of which I have not seen before or since. From hand beating replacement panels for an e-type, making wooden coach built framing, to a modern spec paint booth, it was all going on there.

Should dig out some photos and more details really before they are forgotten.
