12/4 petrol gauge

Post by MickA »

I have a 1928/29 Austin 12/4 and the petrol gauge is not working, the tank is under the seat and I can't get a stick or rod in to see the level, any body know of a fix, thanks

Mine has a bit of stiff fencing wire bent into a semi circle with notches in the wire to indicate how many gallons are in the tank

Presumably you have the side filler pipe, rather than the large dia direct filler below the seat as our '24 Clifton has.

I believe the gauges work using a cork float, which overtime fails to float.
