Sump Colour

So we have the engine apart on our 12/4 the sump is Red what colour should it be anybody know ?

Black. Along with cylinder block, head and chassis frame with all the chassis fittings. All such parts were taken from a common parts bin to be fitted to any car regardless of the body colour. All black with the possible exception of cooling fans which were generally red. This could have been a safety issue as easier seen in red than black when rotating. Many body fittings were black as these too were taken from common bins. Even mudguards were all stove enamelled black unless the customer specified otherwise.

This is only relevant of course to those striving for originality.

Remember it is YOUR car and if you prefer the engine to be red then paint it red. Future custodians will still have the option to repaint.
