12/4 will not start / run correctly
I have a 1928 12/4 which I am restoring as a special as it came to me without a body. I have spent literally days trying to get it to run correctly. The valve timing is correct - No 1 at TDC with both valves closed and No 4 inlet valve just about to open. I have adjusted the clearances. I have set t...

Re: Wheel painting
I had mine shot blasted & power coated in zinc phosphate primer then gave them a coat of Tractol 916 black primer then 2 coats of Tractol Black Gloss which I warmed up with a blow lamp until it was steaming hot. It’s too thick when cold.

Re: Brake plungers
I had the same problem when stripping my front axle You need to remove the cable arm and then remove the cam lever shaft from the swivel hub. Then push up the brake shoe wedge and hold down the brass collet retainer with long nose pliers and remove the 2 split collets similar to those holding the va...

Fixing Body To Chassis
Dimensions needed please. Can anyone tell me how to find a start position for the rear body panel? I need to know where it should be from the rear of the chassis and what it fixes to? I assume the wooden floor fixes to the chassis and the steel panels fix to this? Can anyone show son photos of the f...

Restoration of Arthur & Ada - a Tale of two Austins.
I collected a large part of bodywork for Arthur today - only missing the front doors and posts.
Lots of work but easier than making it all from scratch.
I will need all the glass as well if anyone has any spare.

Arthur’s Chassis is almost rolling - just the wooden packers to fit to the front springs & u bolts to tighten.

Re: A12/4 rear hub felt rings AO66.
First hub going back together - the castle threaded ring still has a long way to go to be where it was when I stripped it down, but it had not been touched for 50 years then.
Can any one say how far I need to go please?
