Re: A12/4 fitting felts to brake rod fork.

The solution which worked for me was to soak the felts in engine oil then squeeze them tightly in a smooth jaw vice for a few minutes. They then become fairly rigid. Have everything prepared then quickly fit them before they expand. A tapered punch, or similar, will help align all components making ...

Glove Box

My 1926 Clifton rebuild has now been going on for many many years but we're now on the last lap, having gathered together most of the missing parts required.
I am, however, desperately trying to find a PASSENGER SIDE GLOVE BOX in serviceable condition.
Please can someone help me.
Thank you.

Hello Mark
When I enquired about cylinder head torque settings I was told, " a good man with a 12" spanner".

HEAVY 12/4 CLIFTON HOOD & TONNEAU

Please can someone who has needed a replacement HOOD & TONNEAU give me the name of a reliable organisation who can make these items.
I have a new hood frame but no old hood which can be used as a pattern.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Torque setting

Martin

Thank you for your advice.

I am using old studs and have cleaned the threads with a die nut.

I purchased new nuts from an engineering supply company.

As I said, 35 - 40 lbs ft, gently does it !!!!

Regards

Clive.

Re: Torque setting

David
Thank you for your input, it is much appreciated.
I was once told that cylinder head nuts should be tightened "by a big man with a 12" spanner", 35 - 40 lbs ft sounds better and will be much more consistent !
Gently does it.
Kind regards
Clive.

Re: New Members Say Hello.

Bob, welcome to the VAR Currently I am on holiday and 300 miles from home but I may be able to assist you regarding a radiator cowl and radiator support. Sadly they are both in need of some TLC. When I get home next week, I will happily send you some photos, if you send me your email address, I live...
