ARCHIVE PHOTOGRAPHS

From the Archive Photographs donated via the VAR website. A very interesting 20/4 with small and large scuttle ventilators, twin spare wheels and a very large Klaxon on the running board. Also a 1927 narrow track Windsor with a lamp or badge bar attached. The photographs were take in the 1920s. Judg...

Before and After. It can be done!

Two photographs of my 1927 narrow track Clifton. In a wood near Swindon. and then many years later, restored. Poor old MR was used, without tyres around fields and woods, a bit like banger racing, until rescued. The results of the restoration you can see. Its hard work but when you get there its ver...

Re: Woolaton 2017. The Post Mortem.

Several members were not happy with the Wollaton event, expressing their opinions to the VAR and to Chris Garner PWA7C. Re: changing gear

Austin salesmen on a test drive with a potential buyer, were told, " Do not change gear if you can avoid it". With such a heavy flywheel (56lb) on the 12/4 you can easily get round a corner in top and pick up the speed gently and then pull away. A friend who had his first 12/4 trip in my c...

Re: Propshaft Upgrade ?

Have you looked at the fabric coupling? or the sliding blocks at the back end of the prop shaft. These can wear, but I must say I have had them nearly dropping off and still no vibration. Have you looked at the wheels or track rod ends. A damaged wheel or a worn track rod can induce vibration, its w...
