Re: 12/4 Clutch Bearing Seals on 1926 Engine

Re: 12/4 Clutch Bearing Seals on 1926 Engine

Neil. Think you are looking in the wrong place. Check the centre plate is flat (not dished and grooved)and is sliding freely on the spline. Re: Wheel painting

Yes,best doing them yourself, only have them blast cleaned if there is deep rust and no solid surface to work on,pick a nice summer week and do them in the garden.
I used Dulux weather shield as a top coat and it,it has lasted very well and is easy to touch up.

Re: A12/4 Engine oil

Have restored five 12/4s over the years, three included total engine rebuilds including drilling out/replacing all crankshaft plugs,to ensure the oil ways were clean. In these three engines,I initially ran them on Castrol gtx and changed oil regularly. They ran fine but the detergent tended to encourag...

Re: No Spark - help!

Have you tried putting a couple of gallons of fresh petrol in the tank and going for a run? You may be supprised at the difference.Modern fuel looses its volatility.

Re: Hood frame on 12/4

Had a 1928 Clifton for 17 years and no problem with the mechanism, are you sure yours is an original frame and not one remanufactured by some one?
( my wife would not have another Clifton because she was always aware of someone "helping" to put down the hood and getting their fingers caught).
